Transportation

The following are several transportation options available for Manchester residents: 

The CT Transit system (525-9181) offers several bus routes in and around Manchester.  Seniors over 65 and people with a qualifying disability may use CT Transit for $.60 per ride.          

                                         

ADA Transportation (724-5340) provides rides throughout the Greater Hartford area for people who, due to a disability, are unable to use the CT Transit system.  ADA provides trips for all purposes and  the fare is $2.50 per one-way trip. Call for an application and qualification requirements. Reservations are taken up to 14 days in advance.                                                                                          

The Manchester Dial-A-Ride Program serves residents who are 60 years of age and older or disabled under 60.  Trips are available in Manchester for medical appointments, grocery and other shopping, visiting, banking and personal business.    During the summer, there are some special trips to the Manchester BandShell  and in late fall there are some special shopping trips for holiday shopping.  For the special trips, please call 647-3096.

People making reservations for medical appointments are encouraged to call up to 28 days prior to their appintment.   Please call 870-7940 to register and  reserve your ride. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:15pm.  

NEW SERVICES OFFERED BY DIAL A RIDE (2008)

 

  • DMV (Motor Vehicle Department) on the 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month - to Wethersfield for picture identification cards.
  • ECHN Medical Center in South Windsor the 1st & 3rd Thurs of the month (call DAR for appt time)
  • West Hill Gardens lunch program for those 60 years of age and older (for more info 643-2163 press 2)

 

Ride Reservations are Mon-Fri 8:30am - 2:00pm

                          

The Manchester Senior Center provides transportation to and from the Center as well as weekly group trips for shopping.  Call  647-3211 to reserve a ride. 

American Cancer Society (643-2168) attempts to find volunteer drivers to transport cancer patients to treatments.                                              

Medicaid (Title 19) Transportation is a program for people on Medicaid for rides to medical appointments. Call Dynacorp 48 hours in advance of the ride at 1-888-743-3112.
