Benefits Counseling

Staff are available to counsel and/or help complete applications for benefits programs including ConnPACE (prescription plan), Energy Assistance, Homeowner's Tax Relief, HUSKY (health care for uninsured kids and youth), Renter's Rebate, Reverse Annuity Mortgage, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid (Title 19), Medicare Beneficiary Programs, including Medicare Part D, State Social Services financial programs, food & nutrition programs, Connecticut Home Care Program. Several staff members have been trained as CHOICES (state sponsored health insurance options) counselors.

The Center for Medicare Advocacy has a new website: www.medicareadvocacy.org.  The last fiscal year the Center for Medicare Advocacy responded to over 6,000 calls from beneficiaries, had 65,600 visitors to their website, requested 1225 Medicare appeal hearings, received 775 Medicare hearing decisions, won 80% of their hearings, won $4 million in Medicare benefits from appeals.
