Time
Out for Parents (TOPS), a YWCA program, is located in
Concordia Lutheran Church in Manchester. TOPS prevents child
abuse and neglect by providing therapeutic child care and support
services to families who have a history of child abuse or are "at-risk"
of becoming abusive. The program provides for a healthy separation
of parent and child(ren) when the pressures of parenting becomes
overwhelming. By reducing parental stress, TOPS has prevented
hundreds of cases of abuse.
Every
parent needs some level of support when caring for their child(ren).
TOPS is designed to provide parents a forum to share their thoughts,
concerns and desires regarding how best to care for their child(ren).
Under the supervision of TOPS' experienced teachers, parents are
also free to take moments to oneself-away from parenting responsibilities-in
order to independently resolve issues which may have led to deeply
rooted stress.
TOPS
services include crisis counseling, parent support and education,
and therapeutic child care. The program is open Monday through
Friday, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM year round. |
