The
Crossroads Program, New Hope Manor's outreach and prevention program
, is a community-based program that offers counseling and educational
programs for the prevention and intervention of drug and alcohol
abuse. Services include after school drug education recreation
programs for youth, support groups, parent training groups, community
outreach, substance abuse evaluations, and after care counseling.
This
year's Crossroads after school programs began this fall at Washington,
Robertson, and Bennet schools. The Washington Elementary program
and the Robertson Elementary program, serving grades 3-5, primarily
include therapeutic recreation activities. These activities
focus on prevention education through games, while also demonstrating
positive interactions with other students and adults. This
positive environment helps these students make better choices when
they are out in the community.
The
Teen Rap and Recreation program occurs weekly at the Bennet Middle
School. This group is currently working on creating and producing
a commercial for the National Anti-Drug Campaign, an activity in
which students across the country participate.
One
reminder: Programs do continue through the summer and those interested
are encouraged to call early for more information.
